Creating your own signature scent is a lovely way to gently mark your presence in a room or bring your own character to any outfit. Use it daily or just on special occasions, when you want to feel really good.
Blending it Yourself Natural Perfume Oil
To start you’ll need to find a suitable bottle to put your perfume in, one with a roller stopper is ideal.
Use a mild, cold-pressed seed oil with very light fragrance combined with your selection of essential oils.
Try to create a balanced blend of essential oils to contain at least one of each top, middle and base notes.
Use 10 drops of essential oil to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil.
Decorate your perfume bottle using tiny dried flowers.
Good carrier oils to use are:
- Sweet almond oil
- Camelina oil
A lovely floral essential oil combination is:
- 4 drops lavender
- 2 drops rose geranium
- 2 drops chamomile
- 2 drops cedar wood
Or for a woodland combination try:
- 2 drops bergamot
- 2 drops cypress
- 2 drops pine
- 2 drops cedar wood
- 2 drops vertiver
The dried flowers in this recipe are purely for decoration, because they look so pretty. Don’t worry if you don’t have them, but do not be tempted to substitute fresh flowers. Fresh flowers would quickly lose their colour and the water they bring can turn the oil rancid, so stick to dried flowers.
Put the drops of essential oil into a small perfume bottle. Gently roll the bottle between your palms to evenly mix the oils.
Put the dried flowers into the bottle.
Add a little of the sweet almond oil and roll again. Top up with the rest of the sweet almond oil then fix the roller stopper into the bottle neck.
